Wizz Air shutting down Abu Dhabi unit

Wizz Air will shut its Abu Dhabi base from September 1 after virtually 5 years of operations. As beforehand reported, this may consequence within the termination of its Belgrade and Sarajevo flights on July 19 and August 31 respectively. This determination stems from sustained operational challenges within the Center East, together with engine efficiency in scorching climates, airspace disruptions and restrictive regulatory situations. The airline’s precedence is to strengthen its place in Central, Japanese and choose Western European markets. Cabin crew working for Wizz Air in Abu Dhabi will likely be provided the likelihood to relocate to Europe.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi held a 25% share of the point-to-point market in Abu Dhabi and had robust masses on each its Belgrade and Sarajevo service. As EX-YU Aviation Information learns, Belgrade Airport is in discussions with two carriers to take over the Abu Dhabi service, whereas Sarajevo Airport considers the Emirati capital as a vacation spot of strategic significance and is looking for an alternate. In Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways and Air Arabia may probably substitute Wizz Air on a few of its routes.
