Airbus UK employees vote to strike affecting wing manufacturing

Employees at Airbus’ UK websites who’re members of the Unite union have voted overwhelmingly to strike after rejecting a pay supply from Airbus.

Unite represents 3000 plane fitters and engineers employed by Airbus, together with at its wing manufacturing facility in Broughton, North Wales, which produces the wings for all Airbus A3XX airliners.

In line with Unite, 90% of the employees voted in favour of strike motion, which is able to happen for 10 days over the course of three weeks beginning on the 2nd September.

Unite common secretary Sharon Graham stated: “Airbus is producing billions in revenue; employees deserve a good deal. Our members are merely looking for equity not favours.

 “Airbus employees have the full assist of their union on this dispute.”

Airbus says it has made a “aggressive and honest” supply to its employees and acknowledged that it’s not involved about any influence on its year-end deliveries.
