The Australian Defence Drive has moved to develop and ensure procedures for UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to function from the Royal Australian Navy’s Canberra Class touchdown helicopter dock warships.

The primary-of-class flight trials, to be carried out off the East Coast of Australia for the Australian Military’s UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters, have already begun with plane deployed to HMAS Canberra LHD at Fleet Base East.

Forty UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters are being delivered to the Australian Military below Venture Land 4507 to exchange the already-retired MRH90 Taipan transport helicopter fleet. Fifteen Black Hawk helicopters are presently operational within the Australian Military.

“Defence is conducting touchdown helicopter dock first-of-class flight trials for the Australian Military’s UH-60M Black Hawk helicopters to develop and ensure procedures required for a brand new sort of plane to function from an Australian Navy Canberra Class LHD,” based on a press release from Defence.

Fifteen months after the primary plane commenced flying in 2023, the completion of important testing, analysis and coaching actions has occurred alongside the institution of a strong fleet assist and upkeep system. At the moment, an additional seven plane have been scheduled for supply in 2025, with all 40 plane scheduled for supply by 2030.
